You were ordered to complete Batterers Intervention Program as a condition of probation, here is the information you need.
All defendants convicted of a domestic violence crime must undergo a Batterers Intervention Program (BIP). This program is usually called Domestic Violence Counseling or BIP. This is a different program and is not replaceable by substance abuse treatments, mental health services, or other type of counseling such as anger management.
BIP is a psycho-educational group led by trained professional facilitators. Each meeting is about an hour and a half to two hours long. Meetings are held every week. To complete BIP, you must complete 20 classes. If you miss a certain amount of classes, usually 4, you will be kicked out of the program and could face a potential probation violation.
Below are a list of Certified BIP programs. Please contact them for further information.
